Manchester’s finest ethio-trad, folk-hop & barrelhouse-pop exponents Honeyfeet return to Birmingham with the launch of their newly cut single Buried my Husband, from their album It’s a Good Job I Love You.
If you’re looking for a sardonic tonic after Valentines weekend, you enjoy a good tale of murder, cannibalism or dancing on graves, or have come to love Honeyfeet through their outstanding performances at Shambala and their other haunts across the UK, this is the gig for you.
Support is provided by Mendi Singh. With an international career marked by recordings with pop heavyweight Peter Gabriel, tours with Ravi Shankar disciple Pandit Shalil Shankar and a performance for the president of Chile, Mendi’s virtuosity and eclectic influences are emblematic of the diverse musical culture of his home city Birmingham.
In 2013, Honeyfeet front woman Rioghnach Connolly, guitarist Ellis Davis and Mendi Singh joined forces on a five date tour of Brazil with original material from their EP The Centre Cannot Hold.
There’s an abiding bond of musical friendship uniting these musicians that will surely make for a warm and inviting evening, notwithstanding a crime of passion or two.
